GEMMATION

The Church and Monastery of Santa Caterina is positioned within the old core of Locarno, originally constituting its eastern limit. The Monastery complex is characterized by the clustering, through budding, of buildings from different eras. Similarly, the New Museum is made up of an aggregation of three large stones nestled within each other, with clean cuts, slightly different in color and finish. The gaps between the precise volumes and the irregular perimeter of the sector allow the continuity and readability of the ancient enclosure wall, manage the orientation of the museum spaces and the natural lighting of the workshops.
