Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Pavilion, Livigno
Two phases design competition - 2nd prize
The project transforms the Town Square into a true Piazza, through the extension of the existing paving, the introduction of new street furniture and lighting, and the construction of a pavilion dedicated to events and public gatherings. The pavilion functions as a covered square, a communal meeting point designed to foster social interaction. The structure draws inspiration from the traditional blockbau construction technique. Unlike the typical buildings of the Livigno area, however, the pavilion is raised off the ground on six wooden columns, and its walls remain partially open, allowing half of the volume to be exposed and naturally lit. This openness not only invites visual and physical permeability, but also reinforces the pavilion’s role as a flexible, welcoming civic space.
