Pavilion for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, Livigno
competition 2nd prize
The project involves the transformation of the Town Square into a Grand Plaza, with the extension of the existing pavement, new furniture elements and lighting, and the construction of a pavilion dedicated to events and meetings. The pavilion serves as a covered square and a meeting place. During the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Games, the pavilion will assume the role of Olympic Point, becoming a parallel stage to the slopes where the Snowboard and Freestyle competitions will take place. The structure evokes the construction technique of the block-bau system or castle construction. Unlike traditional structures found in the Livigno area, the pavilion is suspended from the ground on six wooden columns and the walls do not completely enclose the spaces, leaving half of the volume open and illuminated.
